My name is Rachel. I’m a writer currently based in Los Angeles, where I work on the social team at Variety.
When I’m not doomscrolling, I write about television, film and digital culture. I love unpacking what’s popular in a given moment (and, naturally, trying to predict what will be popular before it is). Even if a cultural artifact isn’t appealing to me personally, I’m always curious about what makes it compelling to other people in a given context.

Past lives: Freelance religion reporter, undergrad lit student at UC San Diego, event marketing at Paramount. In 2022, I was a fellow at Image Journal’s annual Glen Workshop. In my spare time, I read (usually on my phone).
You can find me on Twitter and Instagram, but my favorite platform is Goodreads.
